Much of insurers’ interaction with GenAI remains investigative or experimental, but more innovative carriers have aggressively moved toward implementation. One such example is QBE North America’s (New York) Cyber Submissions AI assistant, an application available in a centralized portal that has significantly improved the company’s underwriting process, not only speeding the submission evaluation process but also enhanced the accuracy and consistency of risk assessments. The Nov. 2022 debut of ChatGPT was a turning point for QBE North America, according to CIO Vinay Kurup.
